Floating World Comics is a comic shop run by Jason Leivian. With a unique project selection such as hard-to-find graphic novels as well as traditional serial comics, Floating World offers a plethora of inspiration for individuals of all ages.

The name comes from the Japanese woodblock print art form Ukiyo-e, meaning “pictures of the floating world,” which began in the 17th century.

"It portrayed a materialistic Japan, which I interpret as portraying spirituality through the material world,” Leivian says. “Comics is an underground, DIY art form where anyone can do it. Floating world was really popular with the masses; it wasn’t considered fine art at the time.”

The Floating World Comics logo was designed to convey a sense of retro appeal within a timeless logotype. Instead of going the conventional route and featuring an icon of an artificial floating world, we developed an original typeface specifically for Floating World Comics that would easily accompany any type of artwork while not garnering all the attention.
